STEVE KAUFMAN “RAT PACK” PAINTING ON SHOWCASE AS POPULAR PRODUCTION PREMIERES IN ITALY

December 21, 2012 / Trieste, Italy --  American Pop Art, Inc., a virtual art gallery at www.americanpopartinc.com, is proud to announce that artist Steve Kaufman’s famous “Rat Pack” painting will be on exhibit as the musical production “Christmas with the Rat Pack Live from Las Vegas,” makes its Italian debut on January 3-6 at the Politeama Rossetti, Hall Assicurazioni Generali.

“Christmas with the Rat Pack Live from Las Vegas,” starring the "Rat Pack" Big Band and Burelli Sisters, captures one of the most beautiful, energetic, magical moments in the history of 20th Century music and features songs by Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, and Sean Cavanagh.  American pop artist Steve Kaufman’s colorful 1997 painting of the famous “Rat Pack” will be on prominent display in the lobby of the theatre as guests are greeted for five scheduled performances.

The “Rat Pack" was a talented group of American artists united by friendship and a passion for music: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.  They were later joined by Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford.  The term “Rat Pack” was invented by actress Lauren Bacall who used it to describe the group returning from a night on the town.  These artists often performed together throughout the 50’s and 60’s, with such success that their evenings became one of the main attractions of Las Vegas.  Members of The Rat Pack were the protagonists of several films, including Ocean's Eleven.

“The Rat Pack was a phenomenon. They were globally loved and their music and humor was sensational,” said Diana Vachier, owner of American Pop Art, Inc., an online gallery exclusively dedicated to Steve Kaufman art.  “When we think of iconic people we always think of Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Elvis Presley, Elizabeth Taylor and of course Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.  These people enhanced our lives through their acting, music, and humor and we love watching them,”

Artist Steve Kaufman loved and respected these "icons," and painted them to honor them.

“It was his way of paying homage to show the art world how important The Rat Pack was and still is.  This special show that will be in Trieste, Italy shows you how far and how loved they still are,” Diana Vachier said.  The Rat Pack painting was donated to the theatre by a major collector of Steve Kaufman art.

The concept to recreate the charm and life of the Rat Pack association with the magic of the theater, voice, musicians, and dancers culminated in a successful 8-season run in London.  Crowds will embrace the nostalgia of such masterpieces as “The Lady is a Tramp,” “Mr. Bojangles,” “I've Got You Under My Skin,” “That's Amore,” “Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime,” “New York, New York,” “Fly Me to the Moon,” “Sway,” “Volare,” “My Way,” “Memories are Made of This,” and a few holiday favorites.
