STEVE KAUFMAN PAINTINGS SHINE IN "STEVE AND ME: POP ART MEETS REFLECTION ART PHOTOGRAPHY"

A VISUAL INTERPRETATION BY NIK PICHLER

February 20, 2015 / Vienna, Austria -- American Pop Art, Inc. is proud to announce the exhibition, “Steve and Me,” the convergence of pop art by the late Steve Alan Kaufman (SAK) with reflection art photography by Nik Pichler, on exhibit from March 6-14, 2015 at Studio am Naschmarkt in Vienna, Austria.  The grand opening will be held on Thursday, March 5 at 7pm.

“Steve and Me” by photographer Nik Pichler is the result of a teamwork effort with Diana Vachier, Alberto Panizzoli, and Eva-Maria Bachmaier of American Pop Art, Inc. and Steve Kaufman Art Licensing LLC.  Nik Pichler spent 12 days in Los Angeles in November 2014, creating photographical interpretations of Steve Kaufman art in two cycles: Street Art and Reflection Art.  Pictured in the photo at left is: Diana Vachier, Nik Pichler, Eva-Maria Bachmaier, and Alberto Panizzoli in Los Angeles.

As part of the project, Steve Kaufman canvases were taken from their frames and brought to the streets of Los Angeles, where they were captured with the structure of the asphalt and the energy of flowing traffic.  The Street Art photographs took shape along Santa Monica Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles and on Melrose Avenue.  The Reflection Art photos were taken on Rodeo Drive and Melrose Avenue.  These photographs show not only reflections but also how the realities in front of and behind the glass merge and create something new. The results are images that are simultaneously real and abstract.

“In their clarity and brilliance of color, Steve Kaufman's images form the basis for a very unconventional approach, the enriched. They retain their identity in the mirror of our time.  It's as if Steve directed in this project," Nik Pichler said.

The Studio am Naschmarkt is located at Lehargasse 3a/2, entrance Millöckergasse (at the former entrance of the Theater an der Wien) in Vienna, Austria.  Exhibit hours are Monday through Friday from 5pm until 8pm, and Saturday from 11am until 4pm.  For more information, visit http://www.bildbank.at/en/
