KAUFMAN AMONG WORLD’S TOP POP ARTISTS

STEVE KAUFMAN FEATURED IN “PURE POP ART,” AN EXHIBITION OF THE WORLD’S GREATEST POP ARTISTS AT THE MARCOS VALCÁRCEL CULTURAL CENTER IN GALICIA, SPAIN

October 23, 2013 / Galicia, Spain -- American Pop Art, Inc. is pleased to announce an unprecedented art exhibition in Galicia, Spain titled “Pure Pop Art,” featuring great works by world renowned artists including Andy Warhol, Steve Kaufman, Roy Lichtenstein and Robert Indiana, opening Thursday, October 31, 2013 at the Marcos Valcárcel Cultural Center in Ourense.

“Pure Pop Art" is a virtual time capsule that reflects the art revolution that took place in Europe and the United States in the second half of the 20th century, and features works by pop artists Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Steve Kaufman, Keith Haring, Robert Rauschenberg, Mel Ramos, Pietro Psaier, and Robert Indiana.  This exhibition marks the first time these works of art have come to Galicia.

Everyday, particularly outside on a busy street, we are surrounded by noise and distractions.  With an overabundance of information and hectic schedules, we can only perceive the broad strokes of all the messages that bombard us daily.  Each pop art work serves as a snapshot of information and branding that speaks to us in conversation, and captures the essence, advances in industry, and fast pace of that time.

As art enthusiasts young and old discover and embrace the essential message of the pop art movement and artists such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Steve Kaufman, Keith Haring, Robert Rauschenberg, Mel Ramos, Robert Indiana and Pietro Psaier, it is not surprising that some of their works of art have reached a value of $100 million.

American Pop Art, Inc., established in 2000 and incorporated in 2005, is honored and proud to work exclusively with the art of Steve Kaufman (1960-2010), the former assistant of Andy Warhol.  It was Warhol who gave Steve Kaufman the nickname “SAK” from the initials of Steve Alan Kaufman.

Steve Kaufman made important progress in his career by reinterpreting and enhancing the pop art painting techniques he had learned at The Factory, Warhol’s studio in New York.  Steve Kaufman developed his own style using the hand-embellishment technique, and created the famous “icons” that brought him worldwide success.

"Pure Pop Art" will run until December 15, 2013 at the Marcos Valcárcel Cultural Center.  For more information, email visitaspopartourense@gmail.com or visit http://ocioengalicia.com/ourense/pure-pop-art/.
